Human Resource Manager Responsibilities

A Human Resource Manager has many responsibilities within an organization. The job description for this position can be broad, or more specific depending on the organization. Some of their duties include: administering benefits programs, investigating workplace accidents, coordinating meetings of safety committees, acting as Safety Director, conducting wage surveys, exit interviews, and suggesting procedures to reduce absenteeism. In addition, they may represent the organization at personnel-related investigations and hearings. Other duties may include contracting with outside vendors.

In addition to the basic responsibilities, human resources managers also have some leadership responsibilities. They help managers develop teams and provide guidance to them. They may also be asked to facilitate a more harmonious working environment among staff and management. They must also be good listeners. The HR manager is expected to analyze the organizational agenda and suggest new strategies. This department is always open to suggestions and ideas from top management. Human resource managers must also be quick to address issues. They should be good communicators, as well as possess excellent computer skills to streamline processes.

An HR manager is also responsible for monitoring employee safety. This includes monitoring the GPS of the company cab and calling the employee/driver to inform them of an impending emergency. HR managers also conduct performance reviews and recommend changes to the organization’s structure. Lastly, they must plan and implement training programs to improve the skills and experience of their employees. This should be done in conjunction with a company’s training programs, and if they are required, can be tailored for each department or work area.

Another part of a human resources manager’s job description is managing the recruitment process for new employees. This position manages the hiring process and manages a team of recruiters. Some people even take on recruiting responsibilities when they are trying to fill high-level positions. In either case, they must develop a recruiting strategy to meet staffing needs and compete effectively for the best employees. There are many other human resources manager responsibilities, including hiring, evaluating compensation plans, and supervising the efficient operation of the staff.

Other human resources manager responsibilities include observing federal and state employment laws, including minimum wage regulations, OSHA guidelines, and sexual harassment policies. In addition to regulating employee benefits, HR managers also must ensure the organization follows various government regulations regarding the health of its employees. They must ensure that all employees are paid a fair wage and enjoy safe working conditions. The Fair Labor Standards Act also regulates how long workers must work, and their breaks should be reasonable.

Besides overseeing the hiring process, human resources managers are responsible for developing a culture of employee engagement, building employer brands, and implementing strategic talent resources plans. Many HR managers also oversee the recruitment process. The human resources manager may also be responsible for philanthropic giving and space planning, and oversee recruitment processes. They are directly involved in determining which policies are necessary for a business’s success. In addition, the manager is responsible for advising and assisting company managers in all human resources-related decisions.
